Layla AI is a travel planning platform that uses artificial intelligence to help users discover, plan, and personalize their next trip. The project focused on redesigning the complete mobile experience with one clear objective: increasing conversion by creating a more intuitive, engaging, and visually compelling product experience.
The main challenge was not the complexity of the technology itself, but how that complexity was presented. The existing experience suffered from an outdated visual language and unclear user flows, creating friction throughout the journey and leading to drop-offs. At the same time, the product struggled to translate its value through social content, making it harder for new users to immediately understand what Layla could do for them.
The redesign explored how an AI travel product could feel more seamless and human. Multiple mobile concepts were created, including a production-focused version and simplified TikTok-oriented prototypes designed specifically for rapid A/B testing. These versions reduced the experience to its core value proposition: helping users instantly understand how AI can transform the way they plan travel.
The biggest UX shift was connecting the generated trip experience with the AI conversation itself. Previously, the generated itinerary and the chat interaction felt separated, forcing users into a more rigid planning process. The new experience created a more dynamic relationship between conversation and planning, allowing users to adjust, explore, and refine their trip naturally as new ideas or requirements appear.
Beyond trip creation, the redesign introduced clearer trip overviews and exploration features for users who were not ready to plan yet but wanted to discover possibilities. The goal was to create an experience that supports different user intentions, from inspiration to full itinerary creation, while making the value of AI travel planning immediately understandable.
